Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find this great place?

14 Waller Street, near the University of Ottawa, the Rideau Centre, and the Byward Market!

How do I get there?

All transitway buses will stop at Laurier Station (University of Ottawa) and Mackenzie King Station (Rideau Centre) - both of which are less than a 2 minute walk away. Bus routes 7, 12, 14, and 18 all stop at the Rideau Centre.

Downtown parking, the dreaded task is made easier by the large lot across the street from us at Besserrer St and Waller St. It's only $8 after 3 pm on weekdays, and $8 any time on weekends. Street parking is free Monday to Saturday after 5:30 pm and free all day on Sunday.

Sounds cool, can I make a reservation?

Generally speaking, we accept reservations for off-peak times - Monday to Thursday before 6-7 pm and Saturday/Sunday before 2-3 pm. There are many factors that play into whether we can take a reservation including, but not limited to, date, time, party size, and previously booked reservations. That being said, we do not take any reservations for Friday and Saturday evenings with no exceptions.

Email us at and we'll do our best to reserve your group a table during our non-peak times.

What kind of games do you have?

You name it, we have it – family games, card games, party games, strategy games, war games. Check out our list online!

I've never played a lot of these games, can you help me?

Absolutely! Our in house staff are around to help you select the best game for you and your friends, and we’ll even show you how to play!

Why is there a $6.00 'Stay and Play' charge?

The $6.00/person lets us keep an up-to-date library of good quality games on hand, and allows us to pay someone to be around to teach you – so you don’t have to read the rulebook!

Is there a time limit on how long we can stay?

On Sundays to Thursdays you're welcome to stay and play as long as you want. On Fridays and Saturdays we have a 3 hour time limit per table. This time limit helps everyone get a chance to enjoy a fun weekend night at The Loft instead of being stuck on the wait list.

I really enjoyed this game, can I buy it?

We have some of your favourites on hand for retail sale so you can take a copy home with you. If we don’t have it on the shelf, let us know, and we’ll try a get a copy in store for you ASAP!

I have an allergy, is this place safe for me?

Please make sure to tell our staff of any allergy concerns you may have, and we’ll do our best to ensure that you aren’t exposed to anything you don’t want.

What's the deal with that "Level One" restaurant? Are they copying you?

Fear not, Level One is merely our newest restaurant. It's all the same awesome people you've grown to love at The Loft, but on the main floor instead of the second floor. In order to be able to seat more people on our busy nights, we opened a new concept and named it Level One (because it didn't make sense to call a first floor restaurant "The Loft"). Level One has 300+ board games and 800+ video games plus a completely different menu. To find out more information about Level One, head over to their website

What types of payment do you accept?

Cash, credit, and debit. Sorry, we can not accept American Express, BitCoins, or livestock.
